The Maeght Foundation

Saint Paul de Vence

A museum in the heart of nature, the Maeght Foundation is an exceptional site dedicated to Art. The Marguerite and Aim Maeght Foundation is one of the major international institutions dedicated to innovation and creation.

Inaugurated on 28 July 1964, the Foundation was born from the friendship of Aim Maeght, art dealer and gallery owner in Paris, with the great names of modern art including Joan Mir , Alexander Calder, Fernand Leger, Georges Braque, Alberto Giacometti, Marc Chagall and Eduardo Chillida.

They created monumental works which they integrated into the Foundation’s buildings and gardens: the Giacometti courtyard, the Miró labyrinth filled with sculptures and ceramics, mural mosaics by Chagall and Tal-Coat, a pool and stained glass window by Braque, a Bury fountain, to name a few.

This year, the Maeght Foundation is pleased to make you discover exhibitions focused on the artist as a person and a character, through the work of five artists. Jörg Immendorff will be displayed this spring (28 March – 14 June : “The theaters of painting”), followed by Gérard Garouste during this summer (27 June – 29 November : “L’Intranquille”), and you will also be able to admire gorgeous sculptures through the artistic dialogue between Richard Deacon, Sui Jianguo and Henk Visch at the end of the year (12 December 2015 – 13 March 2016 : “The daily adventure of forms or what does it mean to be a sculptor in 2014?”).
